Hi, I am not a collector but I found and purchased these two Captains Courageous Lobby cards. On the first one there is an error in the name, and there is a stamp of approval from the Quebec government. I'm guessing it's an approval to print? The words Captain Courageous are painted on.

The second one is a french lobby card.

Can anyone tell me if these are worth anything and how do I know what year they are from and if they are originals?

    thanks

p.s I know the pictures aren't great, but they are in shrink wrap and I didn't want to remove them from the packaging.

These lobby cards had to be approved by other countries so they would stamp the back for approval to display. If in good shape with no tares or bends. $200.00, I seen 3 cards had est of 600.00 - 800.00 at Heritage Auctions. Dave

Great. Thank you for the information & the link, it's much appreciated. This one does have a fold, seems like it was at some point folded in 2 halves. Does the fact that the word Captain is missing it's "S" make a difference? it seems to be an error. Also, the stamp is right in the middle on the front of the picture. and the words Captain Courageous seem to be hand painted?

It will some what, since it was for another country the stamp is often seen. I have a few Posters from that period with approval stamps on them. But still a nice piece of Movie History to have. Frame it and enjoy! Dave

Just one more question, was it the norm that the title be hand painted? I'm just wondering if this was altered or if it's original. There is one spot that seems to have been touched up

It may have been a change made to card so it would pass goverment standards in the country it was being used in. Dave
