Now that is one nice piece of architectural signage. Looks like terra cotta? Beautiful!
I get excited when anyone saves a piece of our architectural history. Unlike Coca-Cola, I have no idea what this is worth! Let me know if you ever want to sell it!
Sorry earlycoke, papaw packed this home along time ago and I could never sell it.I have to move it from where its at as we are selling that property. It will come apart in 5 sections and wont be that hard to relocate.
I might will it to ya.lol
Well, hopefully not too soon! Trust me, I wouldn't sell something my departed grandfather gave me either! Pack it well, that terra-cotta can be fragile.
I would say it has to be a local piece to where you are located. It's not something some one would have have transported to far. You might check your local historical society and old newspapers for information on the Printery.
rocker-sd,Ive searched high and low to find out more about it.Figured I could get a picture of the building it was on.Wrong.....I know it local because my Grandfather brought it home along time ago.He was in construction and kept whatever he could.Im thinking an early Lexington Ky News Paper sign.I'll keep looking and maybe one day somebody can tell me more about it.
Hi, I just googled Printery Lexington Ky. and came up with a reference too the Keystone Printery, Lexington Ky. 1929. This may give you a starting point.
