Took a quick run up to our local GW and came home with this. It's a 14" tall shell pink opaline glass epergne. The compote measures about 10" in diameter. The top flute is 9/1/2" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter. There is a 1/4" chip and flake in the edge of the compote. The flute also has a little nip in it ,but not too bad. The base is very thick and heavy and looks perfect.I don't know if the flute is removable. I don't want to try as I might break it. There are no marks or labels. There are a few makers like Sabino, Portieux, and Pierre Schneider that were making this type of glass in France as well as makers in Czechoslovakia and Italy. The first look online found the exact same thing on Ebay, but I don't know about that price ! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Exquisite-French-Pink-Opaline-Art-Glass-Epergne-/310289521192 I'm always skeptical of Ebay prices but you never know. Not sure of the age. Seems too simple design wise to be Victorian or French, but maybe it is. -Mike-
Wow, great find! I just did a quick trip to the GW next to the grocery store where I had to pick up a few things...nada.
They do look an awful lot alike...whoop whoop!
They sure do Amber..but I don't want to try and remove the center like the Ebay one !
Well you know my breakage record so I'm with you!

Thanks Roy.... things have slowed done again as far as treasure hunting goes. Haven't found anything in the last week or so. I had intended to sell or auction a lot of these pieces but I just can't seem to turn loose of anything. Thankfully, I don't think I've reached "hoarder" status yet....lol
Careful Mike, it sneaks up on you dear. LoL
