I found this pin a while ago. It is rather different from my other pins. It measures a bit over 3 inches. The larger stone seems to be a natural opal but the other two smaller stones could be glass. It appears to be hand-crafted but has not markings whatsoever. The store marked it “925” – I guess they tested it.
The back is rather unusual too. It doesn’t have the typical safety clasp one would expect of a pin but rather a short pin one can find on lapel pins (I am not sure if I explained myself clearly).
Thanks for looking:)
It is different..simple!...I love opals...:-)
Thanks, inky:)
Thanks, Manikin, Moonstonelover21, and vetraio50:)
Valentino97, thanks so much for your compliment. I wear all of my pins almost daily. The only jewelry I wear only on special occasions is the one I got from my grandmother and her sister. I am too afraid that it could get lost - and the memories attached to it are irreplaceable. As a matter of fact, I have looked for similar pieces to wear so that I can leave the real stuff at home. I guess I have a problem - but it could be worse:)
If the smaller ones are amber in colour they just may be instead of glass. Try the hot pin test at least you would of established wether it is glass or not the pin will not go in. Lovely anyway, could it be used on Anzac Day. Which ever way have a Merry Christmas & a safe & happy New Year. It's been nice to have crossed paths with you.
Zowie, thanks for your thoughts. They are always welcome. I am sure one day I will find out about the pin. All it takes is one person that knows about it!
I wish you and you family a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
We are expecting a lot of snow in the next few days - that's the part of Chritmas I don't enjoy:(
JayHow, I like opals too, but I usually don't buy them because I heard that they may crack if one doesn't take good care of them. And, yes, I think the pin will look good on a woolen coat. And I will need one in the next few days; we are expecting a snow storm:(
Thanks a lot, Newtimes, aghcollect, blunderbuss2, DrFluffy, mikelv85, and geo26e:)
Thanks a lot, petey and AmberRose:)
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a healthy New Year to all of you!
Ah, have never seen a pin like this one, Freiheit! Beautiful. Merry Christmas!!! : )
As you say it only takes one person to know about said pin. Christmas would be great with the snow & I believe some people got more than they really wanted as long as in the end all was well & no-one hurt that counts. All the best
MiKKoChristmas11, I have not seen anything like this either. I wish I could find out more about it.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones and a very happy New Year.
Gudrun
Zowie, as always I appreciate your thoughts and comments. We were wishing for a white Christmas but we got a bit more than we could handle. And yes, the most important thing is that no one got hurt!
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones and a happy and healthy New Year.
Gudrun
Thank you for the wishes all went well it was the first time in about 3 years that I could eat a Christmas meal. It was great made it fill a bit more like Christmas. We had a pleasant time and as usual people I know that didn't have family came home. I would love to have a snowy Christmas as long as it is within reason. I know you cannot pick & choice.
Zowie, I am glad to hear you had a nice Christmas. I hope you are doing well and you will have a wonderful year ahead of you.
A snowy Christmas is nice but we had very extreme weather here for about three weeks, and I really had enough of it now. Everything is frozen stiff and most of my trees in the yard are damaged. But I have to count my blessings: We are all fine.
Hi freiheit I'm finely getting to the last of my back Emails. I'm sure your extreme weather should of passed by now & everyone is fine now I have this done I might be able to get on with the present. Have a good day
