This is a interesting cup, it's made of really thin copper with a glass inside sadly the glass has broke.
It's has a seals on both sides with a bird with a crown on his head
Around it it has a inscription but it's hard to work out

" nnes Maria patavinvs.f.anno domini most ???? MDXXXII. Ioma "

I hope the photos are good enough to have a good look.
It looks old but I'm not sure. If I got the date right on the seal something happened on 1522, I'm sure it's not that old but it's definitely got some age to it. It's got a storty to it, just need to find the time to do some research.

      Johannes . Maria. Patavinus. F. Anno. Domini. M D XXXII ?

A Polish eagle. I think it refers to a medal struck by Polish students at the University of Padova in honour of King Sigismundo I. The medal was engraved by the famous sculptor Padovanino. This would be the reverse of that medal.

Sorry that should read Sigismondo I.
      Typo!

      How is your Polish?
Cut and paste into Google translate Polish.

      A drinking cup?
Maybe from a Polish group at the University of Padova?

You pick up the most amazing stuff!

It seems that the medal is now in the Museum in Modena.
      This is the google translation.

Bust of King Sigismund in armor from the side seen with a crown on his head. The inscription near the HEC [sic ] Sarmatia SIGISMUNDI REGIS EST IMAGO . Anno Regni SUI XXVI AETS [ Aetatis ] LXIIII is this: this is the image of King Sigismund Sarmacyi year of his age 26, 64 ( a)

The reverse . Eagle on the left side rotated with open beak , over the crown . Letter S orbits around the eagle. In the rim inscription JOHANNES MARIA PATAVINUS F [ ECITE ] Anno Domini nostri MDXXXII , that is: John Marya Padua?czyk did the year of the Lord 1532 .

Twenty-sixth year of the reign of Sigismund I, and the year of its sixty- fourth life , memorable in abtach Polish numismatics by killing the medal . The custom of handing out medals at that age , that on chains worn on the chest , like today's orders , leads us to infer that King medal this knock ordered for distributing it deserved on the day of their birthday , or anniversary of the accession to the throne .
The History of our in the sixteenth century so great, for every year gives us memories , wherewith we are entitled to be proud of . Year 1532 is memorable odniesionego the Obertyn the Vlachs victory , in which I Jan Tarnowski of s?abszemi incomparably 50,000 forces defeated the enemy and all his works took . ( b )

( a) Rare This medal is in the collection WX Mode?skiego in Modena.

( b ) Felix Bentkowski in the list of his medals Polish at number 13 placed similar Numizmat 36 year life of Sigismund I the bits that these words describe : Six people Sigismund with a crown on his head in about Sigismundus I. REX POL. etc. . Aetatis SUAE LXIII . We have not seen this anywhere nor coin nor his engravings .

The medal is referred to in a book of 1831 Viaggio in Polonia by professor Sebastiano Ciampi. In it he mentions the medal and that it had been struck by Polish students as I mentioned. In the quote above they seem to be unaware of this or it has been discounted.

In another reference I have found they state that many great Renaissance Poles studied in Italy at the University of Padua. A long list in this book by Anne Markham Schulz, "Giammaria Mosca Called Padovano: A Renaissance Sculptor in Italy ..., Volume 1".

This was the university of Galileo and Copernicus studied there too!

So Padovanino or Padovano refers to Giammaria Mosca.
MOSCA, Giammaria (Gianmaria, Giovanni Maria, Zuan Maria)
      aka il Padovano. –
Probably born in Padova, between 1495 & 1499.

It seems he travelled to Poland in 1533 and worked there for many years.

vetraio50, I recently picked up a few of these copper cups exactly like the one you pictured, with the glass inside. I was wondering if you know any new information on these because they look really old. I can't find anything about them on any web site. I might try and take them to a museum or a college professor to see if they know anything. if you do find anything out about them please let me know and I will do the same for you. contact me at mmlong1224@yahoo.com or on this site. thank you markedman
