Item is Marked in Center Lois.Hill......Now I know that Lois Hill is a well known Jewelry maker who mostly worked with sterling silver and has created many wonderful items in the past....I could not find any makers marks..........Magnet test had the magnet "not" sticking to it......
My questions are (1) What is this called (2) How old could something like this be?

A cigar canister very possible. Do you see any markings on the piece? Most sterling will be marked. I think the Lois Hill you are seeing in jewelry is incidental as it appears this canister is much older then contemporary.
Thank you Native Jewelry...I could not find any markings. When I googled Lois Hill. I came up with a jewelry designer who appeared young and had only been producing for 10 years or so. Is this the daughter of Lois Hill? Is there a much older Lois Hill who produced jewelry and other 1 of a kid items? This piece is much older than that. You are correct on that. Inside of piece is clean. It would host a rather large cigar if that was its purpose. I thought maybe a graduating diploma or some kind of letter holder. Thx again for your input.........
