can anyone tell me what this is, where it originated from and what era? it apears to be made from brass, has a copper stand..

after a closer inspection, the chest is made of wood with a rod irin base, the inside is lines witha silver paper and the out side is carved and painted..
ok, problem soolved, i just found a made in China sticker on the botom
