Today it was back to my pre-holiday routine. Came home with a couple of nice vases. This 14" yellow "famille rose" vase came from GW for a few dollars. The decoration is all hand painted and the figural panels are really well done. A lot of the general decoration is a bit raised. The marks on the bottom are something I've never seen before. The four separate red seals seem unusual to me. I looked on Gotheborg's porcelain site which usually helps me out but I'm not seeing this configuration of four marks or the characters. It's probably somewhat new but still very pretty and undamaged. -Mike-
NOTE" Posted this on the Asian Art forums and as I figured it is purely a decorative piece from the 70's. According to the expert who looked at it for me.The marks are "Dao Guang Nian Zhi" (Made during the Daoguang Reign)," marks but are really just part of the decoration as is so often the case with these decorative vases.
Happy New Year Mike!!!
Thanks Sean :) Same to you and a belated Merry Christmas !
