This is a little different shape as far as Flower Centers go. Most have a bulbous shape base where this is a teepee shape. I have never had a piece with such a huge Hobstar cut on the base as it is 8" in diameter and 6" tall. This piece was cut by the J.D. Bergen Cut Glass Co. around 1905. The pattern is called Faust.
Beautiful . Looks very heavy. Is it signed, or do you just know the pattern? There is so much I don't know about American Brilliant Cut Glass, but try to learn when I can.
Hi BigTex...The pattern was found in Bergen catalog. I was looking over your posts and you have some nice pieces. I am now working with Collectors Weekly in creating a page just for "American Brilliant Cut Glass" like we have. The way it is now, under "cut glass" there is all sorts of junk that isn't even cut glass, it is pressed or it is newish! Eventually, all your posts will be put into a proper page. I have a Face Book page called Antiques and Collectables of the World. Somehow, I ended up with some of the most knowledgeable people in the country on American Brilliant Cut Glass. Keep in touch! Will look for you on facebook. You've encouraged me to post more of my cut glass pieces . I have about 45 more in storage, nothing really surprising. Love cut glass but it was taking over my small residence. Agree about the lesser items posted on the website. Are you a member of American Gut Glass Association?
BigTex Hope you see this, sorry it took so long to write, I use to get notices when someone commented. No, I am not a current member of the cut glass organization. Hope to see you on my site!!
