One of the most interesting ceramic designers in Germany after WW II, if I am well informed.

yes you are well informed, he was one of the most interesting designers indeed
and he has been a main influence on german studio pottery and wgp
as a professor he trained a lot of well known potters

Do you share my impression that german ceramics after WW II ist completely underrated - if you compare the prices with prices for french ceramics for example?
    4. getthatmonkeyoutofme getthatmonkeyoutofme, 11 years ago
it depends.... a lot of the wgp fat lava stuff is sometimes even overrated
but that's my german sight of it...
things i leave on the markets are paid quite well if i compare u.s. or uk ebay prizes
but there are potters which are highly underrated indeed

Unfortunately I am not such a fan of this wgp fat lava stuff (with exceptions), it's too much bound to the period for me. But there are some individual designers, I like. Even at their time they were not so fashionable. I am German too.

      you've got a nice collection...
i once been on a small countryside fleamarket and saw two tables filled with all roth models manufactured.... round about 10 years ago
an older couple has been behind that table... they have looked lost standing there
i thought these are quite interesting, but never heard of roth keramik and thought they are new....
each model in different colors sizes and in mint condition...
nobody bought a single roth vase that day... i think after that day the couple throwd them away
at least 120-150 roth vases... lots of guitar shaped ones just put in a line one behind the other....
i think i should have bought the whole bunch... what do you think?
    7. getthatmonkeyoutofme getthatmonkeyoutofme, 11 years ago
must have been a little more than 10 years ago
because they've wanted 2,00DM each roth

I admit that they are not so much to my taste. but they seem to be rather sought after today, you are lucky.
