I bought this antique wood and metal stove board from a guy selling antiques off the side of the road in NW Illinois. Its big, about 28x28". Its made of wood slats wrapped in metal and has a beautiful mandala type pattern on one side. Overall its in great condition. The wooden side has a stamp of the Wabash Screen Door co.
Can anyone tell me, is this item safe to have in a home? I'm worried that the metal or the ink used in the design may be lead based or that it carries some other hazardous material used in the late 1800's or early 1900's when it was likely made. I know very little about these, as this is the first one I've encountered.
What is the metal on it? How was it produced? Is there any worry of lead content or other hazardous material?
Thanks so much!
J
I have one of these too. I'd like to know too please...
That is a really cool item, I would love it, but wouldn't kiss or lick it, just to be safe. :-)
LOL don't lick it.... thats the best advice I've heard in a long time! Love it!
