BTW Kerry...this ones for you and your help !!!!
Lee, great watch, but a newer than I'm familiar with, I believe Sean could share some light on these, I believe he ha one similar or was looking at these a year or so ago
from a quick search 2k and up
its going to be a lot of $$$ to get it fixed , because just to send it in for a new battery is a $100.00 when sent to Tag Heuer!!!
The name Autavia is a combination of words 'Auto' and 'Aviation.' Heuer's Autavia watches were sold directly to professional drivers and pilots. Although the Monaco model stole the spotlight from these at the time (worn by Steve McQueen in the movie of the same name), Autavia's were made from 1962 to 1985.
Please take a good look again at the reference # again. I checked the Autavia web sites and there's nothing listed for ref. 2445. However, I found an online virtual book and your watch is nearly identical to ref. 2446C GMT of 1969 (but missing the rotating bezel). If it is the 2446C, it would have a Valjoux 724 movement.
rniederman, you are correct..the number is 2446! I need glasses! Thank you..so is this a good watch?

According one article I have about these (I'm a closet watch guy), Autavia watches are becoming very popular and many in very fine condition sell for thousands. But keep in mind that there are a lot of Autavia watches so condition is really important. Unfortunately, the lack of a 24-hour rotating bezel will make a put a dent in the value. I'm not an expert on these but there are some websites that specialize in Autavia models. I suggest contacting one of them to learn more. - Rob
Sean, many thanks for the info and I will look into that.
Awesome watch!!
