These photos are of my maternal Grandfather tending to the chores.
In the first photo he has the horses hitched to the hay rack, most likely he was on his way out to the field to get a load of hay or straw for the livestock. In the second photo he has a barrel & a cream can loaded on the sleigh. When my Grandparents lived on that farm they didn't have a water supply for the house & had to haul water from the neighbours place across the road.
I always love your postings your items ,very beautiful photos and history!!!
Thanks for the love & kind words on these photos Sean, it's appreciated!
Been there, dun that. Except without the snow. Nice post.
Which part B'buss, hauling the water or the hay?
Thanks for the love B'buss, Doc & agh.
Very funny Walk. Both.
@ B'buss...Most likely you hauled the water by hand uphill in both direction too!
Nah. We learned better by watching Yanks doing that.
I thought maybe the hardships you faced as a youngin, got worse as you got up in years ;)

Thanks for the love & your comments Phil.
With each passing year there are fewer & fewer people who have a connection to farming & even less for those that remember the work horse era.
My Grandparents were still using a team to clean out the barn until they moved to town in 1973.
Another great post WS. Agree with Phil, its lovely to see the photos and here the stories of a time not long gone but still a world away from today.
