I found this recently and it's beautiful, heavy and glass or crystal. There's a mark of some sort which is in the pic. Other than the fact that this is a "Lion Capital" (aka: lions of Sarnath)and is representative of the universalism if Buddhism, I can't find any informaiton about this online after exhaustive searching.

If anyone can provide some informaiton it would be greatly appreciated.

WOW, what an interesting piece. don't know anything about it but I use http://gotheborg.com/index.htm to help with makers marks on Chinese or Japanese pieces. Might help you find a similar makers mark and help with more info.

wonder if this has any historical 'attachment' to the Lion Capital of Asoka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_Capital_of_Asoka

Thanks for the comments and suggested sites. I took a look and didn't really get the answers. Of course the Chinese marks at that site are for porcelain but I'm going to continue to look. Very very curious!

I've still found nothing more other that this can also be referring to as the "lions of Sarnath". I've emailed a lot of folks but still nothing. Exhaustive internist searching and not one similar object. I guess this is the only one on the planet (I hope)!
