This was my first car I had...It was Phoenician yellow, with black interior, and my favorite, the spinner hub caps. It also had air conditioning that didn't work. I loved it!!! My father purchase his first Mustang in 1965 a Red Coupe with black interior. I was driven to school in it for years, it was so embarrassing being seen in that old car. It went all the way through high school, the only thing that changed is my dad kept getting new old mustangs. It was his hobby, buying and refurbishing mustangs. In high school he had a fastback with a huge engine (440?), he woke up the neighbors when he started it. And everyone could hear us coming for at least blocks. My brothers first car...a mustang, 65 aubergine coupe. My younger brothers first car...1965 gt coupe, that he didn't like to drive, it was too hard to steer. I had power steering when I put the power steering fluid in. I learned a lot of lessons from that car, like, while gas is important, sometimes it needs oil. Oops! Luckily my dad asked me about that sooner rather than too late. I am not embarrassed about the cars my dad still drives, now it's a convertible.

My first car was a 65 mustang. I was only 15 and working at the gas station 48 hours a week just to have a car, it was all worth it. What a great memory. When I bought it, it only had 12,000 miles on it. I put air shocks, cragers, and thrush side pipes and a 8 track player. What a car! That was back in 1971. You have a very nice mustang!

I loved my mustang so much I would clean it and drive it to a park, (this photo was near Shawnee mission park in Kansas,) and take pictures of it. I am going to add a photo of my dad's mustangs to this in a couple of days. I traded cars with my dad in 1986. He gave it a new paint job and sold it. My brother is also a mustang man I honestly don't know how many he has. He is in auto body repair.

I went ahead and added my dad's mustangs. They have been put to bed for the winter. The red one on top is the original one! The blue one below is the convertible.

Hi Stonesfan1, I asked my dad what the engine was, he sad it was a manual transmission with a high performance 302 ( "it was fast as well as loud"). He replaced that engine with a 289 and took out the clutch because he said it was hard to turn the wheel when changing the gears. He regretted that change afterward, said he should have left it and sold it the way he got it.
