I found this wonderful green glass jar that I believe was made from a mold as there are seams on the sides. There are numbers stamped on the bottom of the jar probably for the design code or mold number.

I know nothing else about the jar except that it was probably made during the 1940s or 1950s.

Anyone have ideas of how I can learn more about it?

The I in O mark is Owens-Illinois Glass Company- The number 17 code number is for their Clarion, PA plant (1930-2010) and the number to the right is the date code (yours looks like 68 - the 8 actually looks like it was over a 7) - The number 5 is the jar mold number.

So the jar was made in 1968 at the Pennsylvania plant of the Owens Glass Co.

Correction in 1968 the company was called Owens-Illinois Inc.

1968 also happens to be the year the company starts the nation's first public glass collection program (a.k.a. recycling ) at their Bridgetown, N.J. plant.
