    (584 items)

These are the remains of a breakfast set that belonged to Carlos's mother. After her death the sons are doing what in Spain we call "vaciar la casa", emptying the house (you know, deciding which stuff each one takes, what to sell, etc). There is a lot of amazing stuff there but unfortunately most of it belongs to a too old fashioned style, pretty much 19th Century and part of it ressembling styles from previous centuries. But still, there's some design stuff which is really interesting (some great Art Deco stuff for instance). As Carlos knows I like this Sargadelos stuff, so these are now mine.

This breakfast set was a present both sons gave to her mother when Sargadelos stuff was highly fashionable back in the 70s. The missing parts here should be a sugar bowl and a coffee pot. Both items had lids resembling the one on the 500cl milk jug you can see. As for the cups and saucers, I'm not sure how many they had, but I guessed there were four more in the set. In this set there were two milk jugs, this one being the bigest.

Among the things I love about this design are the spout from the milk jug, which being horizontal prevents dust from getting in. Also the lids, with that little bird on top (in fact, the name from the design comes from this fact. Paxaro is Galician por bird, hence Paxarica). The third thing I love about it is that every item from the set is stackable; the whole thing was designed to create sort of an sculpture when it was not in use. I see this fact as sort of a "revolution" and I guess they would probably be against coffee sets displayed in cabinets :)

This set can be still found for sale, but not in this decoration. I still have to find out the name of it.
