    WalkyTalky…
    (1 item)

I had this bowl bought for me from a private house and contents auction 15 years ago. It was listed as Japanese vintage bowl 40s/50s with men and Dragon.

There is a label on base with Made in Japan. No.11813. There is a hand painted number and something in Japanese which im
not sure if its a transfer or hand painted. I think probably hand painted.

The bowl is quite heavy. 3.75lbs/1.7kg.
10 inches diameter. 4 inches heigh.

Again, I think its hand painted with little men and one woman, and a Dragon inside. Men and a dragon on the outside. The 'eyes' and all the dragon are slightly raised/ textured.

I do hope someone can tell me anything about this curious bowl. Age, depiction, tourist piece? Region etc.
    with many thanks.

Satsuma 1000 faces. I know there is degrees of quality, traditional stories ( cannot remember this one but it's poplar) think this a super good piece.

Thank you Jim and Amber Rose. I've not used this sight or anything similar, but im delighted I did. I'm stunned that the bowl is worth anything. It was bought for around £40. It does have a chip on the base rim which im sure knocks the value right down.
I'm not sure how to rotate the photos. If I go to Edit it only allows me to Remove. They were entered the right way but after submitting they rotated back! Does one thank people on this page or is there a facility to leave a comment on your page?
I cannot say how pleased I am with the info albeit a little gobbledygook!

You would have to delete the photo, rotate it using your own photo editor and repost the photo

dai nippon satsuma yaki sei , and maybe an Taizan deviation

late mejji , or early showa

      reasonable quality

      i mean early taisho

sometimes i think i never learn

it is an dai nihon satsuma yaki HOTODA sei

actually we are committed to the the dai nihon - which implies the rise of Japanese nationalism, so we can be later then early taisho

IMO it,s quite likely meijji period

it is a KANNON - Rakans scenen , function is dharma protectors

is it technically a thousand faces vase ??? , the nimbus is around the head, and don,t forget , and RAKANs ) Arhats)( also appears without being a thousand faces vase, so 1000 faces vase is less likelijke
