I love the Deco design of this little (3 1/2 x 2) ashtray. The center engraving is really well detailed, and the color is great. I guess I really need to narrow down my collecting, I'm all over the place with stuff!
Very beautiful!!!!!
Never need to narrow down when collecting. Half the fun is finding something that just catches your eye. I love this piece. Definitely Czech. I enjoy collecting similar pieces.
Thanks Sean and smiata. I hadn't realized it was Czech!
Very nice upstatenycollector. There was a similarly nice uranium ashtray on ebay recently, went for more than i could afford:( Made me smile with your 'collecting all over the place..' Thats how i feel at the moment.
Diversity is a sign of a health mind :-)
Why get pigeonholed?
Variety is the spice of life...
You like more than one flavor of ice cream don't you?
Shall I go on?
Your uranium collection and vintage pins are my inspirations... Keep finding them...
Thanks, Amber, Vintage, Kerry and Dr.! You are right, I do like the variety. And I really do want to open a shop if I live to retire. Thanks for the kind words, and all the loves! I have more to post, it ws just getting late last night.
You're welcome and btw, package is in the mail :-)
You mentioned in email about book?, do you have something that shows "Enameled" pieces? If so I have a mystery going lol:

Thanks again kerry. Going to check out your mystery right now!
I have an amber salt cellar similar to your ashtray. If it is carved from the underside it is called intaglio. I also have some pendants made the same way. You can never collect to much, the fun is in the hunt.
Thanks, Glassaddict!
Can you tell me how to post a picture? I haven't been able to figure it out.
Glassaddict, this is from the help page(http://www.collectorsweekly.com/answer-desk/how-does-show-and-tell-work ): Adding new items is easy. On the add item form, just type in a title, select up to four photos from your hard drive to upload, then write a description of your item. Be sure to include as much information as possible in your item’s description so other users can give you the best feedback.
Thanks upstatenycollector I was able to post my picture. I appreciate you trying to help me. I posted a picture of a lamp I would like some info. on.
Very nice piece, we would love to post this on our Facebook page with your permission of course.
Sure, you're welcome to post!
nice ashtray; would the engraving be Disobolus?
I don't think so TallCakes. He's just holding it, not throwing it. (I assume you meant Discobolus? I had to Google him). When you throw a discus, your fingers go over the edge (I threw Discus and Shot in High School). This figure is holding it in the middle. Looks like classic Art Deco to me. Of course, I could be completely off the mark!
engraving just made me think of Greek mythology and discus came to mind with that shape. Didn't think of tympanon, but that is most likely what it is.

hey ic..... got the tympanon for your link : ))

No rose, sorry, it doesn't glow. I wish!
Your welcome upstate!!!!
upstate, I think this fits into your Deco collection perfectly! I have a similar deco ashtray, but not as detailed as yours. You can see it here
