Found this beauty at the Salvation Army Thrift Store this morning. It was sitting in their window sill display area. I love the red color and the shape too. It just glows ! It's 13" tall and 8" in diameter at it's widest. The interior is cased in white glass and most importantly it's clearly signed ! The signature seems to be in Italian. It says "Antica Murrina Veneziana" I looked online a bit and didn't see one like this . Most are very multicolored but I wasn't looking too hard since it's signed. Guess there's no doubt who made this wonderful piece. Score !! -Mike-
Thanks Leah :) Red is my favorite color too!
Thanks Jay.. I couldn't believe it was signed so clearly and it wasn't expensive either. Guess they couldn't read Italian...lol :)
Congrats on the great find Mike
Thanks Aim...Seems like the thrifts are finally getting the good stuff for a change. :)
Beautiful!!!
Thanks Sean ....the color is so intense. I love it !
Your very welcome Mike :)
Beautiful vase Mike! Yes, as you said, it was made by the Antica Murrina Veneziana. They're primarily known for their glass jewelry but have also sold vases. The reason you see mostly multi-colored (murrine) vases is because that's their specialty, thus the name Murrina. Although not the same as yours, here's another cased vase sans the murrine decoration. AND you were able to find a beautiful, quality piece like this in a Salvation Army??? Wow!

Thanks so much Rick :) I figured if anyone would know it would be you because you have so many wonderful pieces. Yes Salvation Army. The one I shop at is the best. It's large and quite new. I think I only paid a few dollars for this although it does have the tiniest flea bite to the edge of the rim. I just love the deep rich red color and the shape goes well with the ceramic Asian stand I found that it's sitting on . -Mike-
Thank you CindB :) Been going through some of my older posts looking for pieces that still puzzle me and asking around. Glad you like it
Cool colour ... love it ;-)
Here's another vase everyone that I'm in the ballpark with but I can't pin down the designer. Partial label and from a while back.
