    Hello Friends,
It was a beautiful day here on Cape Cod!, ( the first in months it seems , though there must've been a couple of other snow-less days in there somewhere ).
Best of all I had the day to shop with a friend from work, and we both managed to find some very nice things.
This piece is from a visit to the local GW, earlier in the week.
I don't think it's very old, but the shape is really lovely, and caught my eye.
It's stamped on the bottom ' Japan ' in white ink.
I believe it has some age, but it hasn't the fine quality that an antique piece would have.
I'm curious to know if it's familiar to anyone.
    Love is always welcome,
    warms wishes to all,
    tony.

WOW! In 1891 Pres. Grover Cleveland passed a law saying anything entering must be stamped with country of origin! By the way he is only Pres. two different terms 22nd and 24th in US! I read or someone told me JAPAN and not made in Japan, well your bird is probably 1891 to early 1900's! My opinion and Simons! haha Almost like a helmet! Is it heavy?

Country of origin was part of the stipulations of the Tariff Act of 1890-- commonly known as the Mckinley Tariff Act. Mckinley, a US Representative and later President, crafted the Act.

Democrats (Cleveland) were NOT fans of the protectionist tariffs.

Harrison (Repub) was President when the act was passed by Congress.
