A pair of vintage folding Maple rocking chairs. I'm assuming C.1940's. Soooo looking forward to some nice spring weather to try them out. No maker marks. Might be locally made. Only seen one and it was from this area Southern Ontario. Might, maybe, not sure if I'm going to refinish with boiled linseed oil.
Also to go with these beautiful rockers are two smaller (Grand) kids chairs and two side/drink/craft tables.
Did I mention that I have other projects to finish. ; )
You got it. Rub it down with 4 ought steel wool, wipe it down with mineral spirits and put the boiled linseed oil to it. They will look great. Nice to see someone with some smarts. Thanks for sharing and knowing how to do it.
Make sure you get boiled linseed and NOT RAW.
Thanks for the tips fhrjr2. Thanks also Aimathena!
Seven years after you posted... I found one of these folding rocking chairs yesterday at a Salvation Army in Toronto. I bought it because I'd never seen anything like it before and it looked like it was from another time. Right beside it was a c.1930s art deco style simple wooden kitchchen table/chairs set, so I'm thinking it could have come from the same source/timeframe. Still in good condition although could do with a refinish.
