It's been a long time since I last shared a nice piece of Scandinavian glass, so here is our Edvin Öhrström's SLIP_GRAAL vase. I absolutely love it. It has this incredible mix of green and oxblood and because of the decor going in lines, it creates an amazing optical effect that makes it (vusally) vibrate beautifully. After all, Edvin öhrströ (1906-1994) wqas not only a glass artist, but an sculptor (although he first worked as a railroad worker). He was one of the pioneers of the ariel technique, which he had invented together with the master Gustaf Bergqvist (our Rebessin's grandfather) and the artist Vicke Lindstrand.
It stands 21,5 cm tall and it's signed on the base:
ORREFORS SWEDEN GRAAL S1002L, E.ÖHRSTRÖM
It's one of the very few Slip-Graal items that was not designed by Edvard Hald. There's a simmilar one -same decor and size- at H. Ricke's book GLASS IN SWEDEN, 1915-1960 (image No. 233).
Beautiful!!!
This is just SPECTACULAR!
Dying of envy here Austro! I really would love some graal but have been avoiding Hald, for no other reason that I want to!
It's just breathtaking! And so big!
