When I bought this vase a few years back I was sure it was Mandruzzato but the colour seemed unusual for Murano glass.

I have since seen Rebessin's Strombergshyttan vase:

    http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/89744-square-prism-vase--gunnar-nylund-strom
and am now wondering if this is a smaller model.

My vase measures 175mm tall,50mm across the flats, and 40mm across the base. It is also a square prism, the facets look similar, as does the colour.

Now getthatmonkeyoutofme, apart from having a fabulous moniker, has directed me to German glass. The Joska piece he has linked looks good too.

Rebessin or anyone else, I would be glad of a bit of critical guidance here!

Whatever, I adore the work in it and the way it plays with light.

      might be german also...
seen similar ones with a german sticker...

Thanks GTMOOM. Hadn't thought of the Germans - Imperlux?

I know that this heavily faceted glass, like many styles, spread through a lot of the Euro glass houses!

I've since seen this on Etsy which looks a match, very slight size difference, and it's stickered - no argument there! https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/157003518/vintage-murano-mandruzzato-style-smoke

The other thing is I would imagine Strombergshyttan would be signed.

      Thanks for the love Kevin!

Thanks Sean! You feeling a bit better?
You know you probably just need some Vitamin D - come to Australia!
Sun is nearly always out and it only snows in 0.2% of the whole country, and only then if the antarctic winds are right and you hold your tongue at the correct angle.

the question is how many of all Mandruzzatos out there.... are Mandruzzato
    11. getthatmonkeyoutofme getthatmonkeyoutofme, 11 years ago
most sellers remove the joska sticker to sell these as madruzzatos i think

Ok, I admit it: there are also a lot of new names for me! I guess that's what happens when one specialzes in one type of glass, or a few designers... As a matter of fact I am not of any help when talking about Italian, Bohemian or most of German glass :(

I think you are probably right there. The way I look at it is that if it looks great, has the same amount of work involved in making it, and is hard to identify from another, does it really matter where it's from? Does that make me a Philistine?

I like to know where things are from but don't lose sleep over it. I lose sleep over other stuff - like the mortgage, and work, and that hair growing at strange angles from my eyebrow. Why worry about something that gives me pleasure?

      You're welcome racer!

Of course it being from one maker or the other doesn't change anything about the vase you purchased just because you loved it!

You have so many beautiful pieces of glass! I think I have to come back another time to "visit" and keep "loving" it!
    20. freiheit freiheit, 9 years ago
By the way: Where do you display all of these wonderful things? My husband told me to stop buy porcelain because I am running out of space. Any ideas?

I believe I have this very vase. Weight is 2lb 12oz, stands 8.25" tall. It is smoky gray, faceted. It has a rectanguar gold sticker on it. Within a bell shaped logo reads: Bell Glass oro 24k, Sacca Serenella Murano, made in Italy.
Hope this is still relevant and helpful.

Hey - if you go back to the Etsy link you posted and look at what's available now, including the one below you might want to look at.
