If the "surrealistic" adjective can ever be given to a pottery vase... I think we've got it at home.

We know nothing about this vase except that it is a Valencian majolica from the 1950s... that's all but, in any case, we really don't care about it because this vase is totally Dalinian: the soft volumes, like melted Gruyère cheese; the red veins all over the putrid green surface... we really can imagine this vase as the scale model for a 12 meters high sculpture placed in the middle of a desert, just like in one of Dalí's paintings!

are there any marks on the bottom? it reminds me of 'Memphis' - Milan pieces from the 1980s.
    23. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 10 years ago
Thanks very much for stoping and loving ho2cultcha, bratjd and Vintagepuissant!

No marks at all ho2cultcha. Not long ago I found a design by Antonia Campi with a very simmilar top rim... It's not extrange it reminds you of Memphis, as they played a lot with visual refferences from the 1950s and Art Deco, and i think whoever made this vase was playing with Surrealism.

In any case, this vase was made 20 years before Memphis :)
