This old bb gun was in my family ever since I was born. We lived on Park Ave. in Newport Ky. in a small 4 room cottage and it sat in the closet for years until we moved. I am now 46 years old and have this old bb gun. The four room cottage we grew up in was actually a guest house owned by George Wiedemann who owned George Wiedemann Brewing Co. in Newport Ky. A man by the name of Mr. Frankie who was a chouffer for Mr. Wiedemann was given the house and he had it moved down from the Wiedemann mansion on Park Ave., and it is now known as Mansion Hill. My parents bought the house from him for 6500 dollars and the bb gun was left in the closet by Mr. Frankie. It appears to need re-nickled but seems to function well with a good wood stock, and I plan on having it professionally restored for the re-nickle and what not as I am concerned about further rust damage, and don't know if re-nickle of the barrel and metal parts will hurt the value. Maybe someone give give me there opinion of the gun and possible value and restoration comments. Value before restoration and after. The patented dates are: Sept, 27-1892,,Jan,28-1896,,April 7, 1898,,April 11, 1902,,Oct, 27, 1903, Jan 29, 1907....The Markham Air Rifle Co. Plymouth Mich. U.S.A...

Looks like it is the Markham Model"D", single shot. You may want to re-think restoring it. These all seem to be in original condition.

Would anyone know where to go to see a photo of a Plymouth "Magic BB Gun'' also? These are suppose to be a real gem for collectors as most burned in the factory fire.

I have a King No. 1 just like yours I found in a old house we were given that was past down from my wife's family . Although the center tube is missing the rest of the BB Gun is in very good shape. Thank you for posting this. I could not find one like mine anywhere but here. Same dates and everything.
Hey. Bob Thanks for the posting. I have not seen hardly any anuwhere either. I would think that they would have some descent value to them, but unsure of whether or not to have it re-nickled or not. I was leaning towards restoration since I will propably wll hand it down to my son and don't really want it to rust completely but I also don't want to hurt the value for him in thirty or so years as he is only 19, he may need to auction it for something in the future. Hi... I hope you will help me out. I just pick up a markham-king #1 and it is missing the shot tube and don't think I'll ever fine one. Could you please measure the one you have and tell me the lenght of the shot tube. thank you for your time.

Hi. Ted the length of the shot tube on my bb gun is 9-5/8'' long.
Ted sometimes you can get lucky and find one on Ebay, or the other option would be to go gun and knife shows in your area. In our area they usually have one big gun and knife show called Tom Goodmans gun and knife show and hope one pops up somewhere there or an Antique store. These tubes don't seem to lock in very well and I almost lost mine when I stored it but was lucky enough to find it lying in the general area so I now keep a piece of tape over the end to keep it from falling out again in the future and in a small platic gun case with a light coating of olive oil to prevent further rusting. Not an easy find but one will pop up sooner or later; just be patient. Great neat little guns though. I love this thing.
