The 10-cent Horse Racing commemorative stamp was first placed on sale at Louisville, Kentucky, on May 4, 1974. Louisville is the place at which Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby are located. The stamp was designed by Henry Koehler and was issued in sheets of fifty, with an initial printing of 140 million.
