Everything about this 12" vase from Salvation Army is unusual. It looks too well done to be an art project. The shape is not typical of any one country or style. The way the decoration is applied is a combination of incised and raised enamel. The ceramic is a yellow heavy clay that shows through the semi- opaque color glazes. The figures have an obvious Asian look. One is playing a flute. One is carrying a basket of flowers. The last looks like she's dancing. The background is incised with a swirls of leaves and mums. The interior is yellowish tan, glazed, and rather lumpy. There are no marks anywhere. Not even any label residue. An interesting piece to say the least. Kind of Chinese, Japanese, Italian. -Mike-

These are exactly from Vietnam. The girls in the vases wear their traditional costume called Ao Dai. (looks like this http://www.pbase.com/image/76207987). This is my country. I can't tell their cost, but obviously, they are elegant.

Thank you Karen :) ... Well from what I'm reading here I guess it is. I wasn't sure about it's origin when I first bought it. They even sold it to me for half price. I thought it was very nice to say the least.-Mike-
