got this watch at a local pick job. The face reads R.B. St John Nenagh. I can't find too much about it and hoping you can help me.

Open up the back and see if there is any other info written on the watch works.

How do I open up the "back" ?
      Thanks,

Dont use a knife slide a finger nail in usually a place on the side or pull top winder up Nenagh is in county Tipperary

It probably unscrews. Just try to twist it, carefully.

      I see a number 390752 with a 6 under that area...

Looks to me like a Swiss watch made as a special order for this gentleman from Ireland. You need to get the back open so we can see the movement. Is it hinged? If so you would pop the back open by doing what Irishpp suggested...

There are other things etched or marked also that are very hard to read or decipher...

Ok... I see the hinge now. So if you haven't already opened it.... press the little button on the top (looks like a winder but it's not because it's key wound) and use your fingernail (nothing metal) to pop open the outer case if it doesn't open when the button is pressed.... there might be another lid that needs to be opened... as AR8 has stated. Look closely to see if there is a place were you can put your fingernail and pop that open.

The hour hand is missing and the minute hand looks a little precarious, that will take away from the value even if it does work.

I will try my best.. I see an inside "lid" where the the key would go to wind it...
Now I have to figure out how to get that inside lid "open"...
    15. JerryHaulsItAll, 14 years ago
I'll try to "open" it as soon as my wife gets home from work..

Additional pictures of the inside of the watch are now posted.

      Thanks again.
