Just acquired this piece today. It's about 4 feet tall (there's a cat in the picture for scale...). I can't find any markings on it -- nothing on the bottom -- but it's definitely hand painted and rather ornate.

Any ideas on this one? We weren't given much to go on.

It looks Japanese.. I had two similar but smaller versions of these on my mantle for 20 years (they were only 2 feet tall) but mine were antique reproductions. In the late 1800's and early 1900's things from the past were reproduced at an alarming rate. The Victorians were notorious for this. Since it has no markings (mine didn't either) and it's hand painted (mine was too)..i would definitely think this is a reproduction Vase from early to mid 20th century some time... It's stunning to say the least! Keep researching and digging and hopefully you can find out some info. I'm not an expert but have collected antiques for 20 years and studied and researched and been all over europe to get more. Nice piece!! I would love to have that!! wow!

actually i prefered to stay out of this, because my mistakes could cause value damage, but i am an art addict , so let,s it a try although i not feel qualified , so you need an second opinion from a top export, because i might talk bullshit

we have to shut out qianlong because they are quite incommon, bourgondy

he scrolling lotus design ground/ruby ground, it is an rubvy gound ground scrolling lotus

top line is probably an chinese export indication
      under it an diamond border
under that unknown ( decapitated ruyi ???)
in the neck full ruyi scepter

under that a type of decapitated ruyi design ( yellow = light blue)

      an rather strange sky filling
extremely wellCranes !! no storks +feniks = mandarin ducks+ vivid well flowers

downwards bound we got ( some people call it traffic light borders ) no dispersion , seems rather well

under that a layer a layer of scrolling lotus design in famille noir

its a rather busy fase in a sort of carnivalesque tonality, but the quality is EXTREMELY well and the condition is also very well

i am not qualified for this , so i could be very far off, IMO it is late Guanghu period
      and it is good value

its chinese it is not moriage

      Greetings WAki
