SEAN68 - Anna May Wong was a very famous silent movies star and actually one of the few that crossed over into talkies. I didn't know anything about her when I purchased this photograph I just thought it was beautiful (as well).

I just finished seeing Limehouse. I did really enjoy her performance but I was frustrated by the size of her part. I had hoped because it was an English film of the 30s it would offer her a larger vehicle but no such luck. What she did with the little she did get though was very good. Thank you again for letting me know about Anna May. I have at least one more to see and hopefully I will find more. What was your favourite film in which she played?
      Sincerely,
      Lisa

Hi Lisa, well it's so so much that she is a great actress or any of her movies are even good. I just like here look and the fact that she was one of the few that made it into talkies after being a silent movie star. You probably wont find a "great" movie she was in because of the racism in that day against the asian community. Most lead parts were played by caucasians. Sad but true. Just enjoy the beauty of black and white cinematography.

Oh I do. I am mad about a lot of the screw ball comedies, Bringing up Baby especially. William Powell and Myrna Loy too. The odd little pocket in the 30s when the censors seem to have stayed away produced some interesting film too.
Thank you for introducing me to Anna May.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa

wow that's incredibly hot, and your telling me that was taken almost 70 years ago? nice, I love it
    25. GlueChip GlueChip, 8 years ago
hi LegendaryCollector. Yes. Ana May Wong was a silent movie actress that crossed over into talkies. What is amazing is that she was actually and asia actress playing an asia character. Back then...99.9% of the asia lead rolls were played by caucasians.
