I started collecting old magazines for this reason to cut them up and use like wall paper. The older magazines I found the more I started to realize I should not be destroying them but keep them as a reminder of what life was. I dont cut them up any more but I have thousands of images that I had cut out before. I decided to finish one of my bathroom walls.
What a cool idea! Maybe you could do high quality scans or photocopies so you dont have to destroy anymore magazines? I would have the same reservations. I have had a similar, but slightly different idea myself. The old newspaper sports articles I have posted on here. Many of the old sports pages back then had diagrammed plays in the paper. I have thought about cutting those diagrams out along with the action shots from games, framing them, and hanging them on my walls. The reason I haven't is because I can't bring myself to cutup the old papers.
I dont know why I never thought of copies? Thanks for the idea.
Hi, Looking at this item reminded me of a few mags I have had for years. Saved by my grandparents as the War ended in the Pacific against the Japanese. (their son, my dad was there fighting in the army) I'm posting the covers on a couple of them but I'll say that the "insides" with all the ads for liquor, cigarettes, cars etc are much more ornate & interesting. Great idea you had.
You must have a lot of time on your hands . . . LOL I have many vintage harness horse and horse & sport type magazines . . . mine are all in boxes . . . like I said, my wife won't let me display them . . . But, every once in awhile, I flip thru the pages and read some of the articles. So many great old ads and the colors are the greatest. Just love the old clothing and shoe ads. Someday I will be able to enjoy them.
I love that, what a great look!!!!
