This doll came from a friend of my grandmother. She is about 8 inches tall. I have never had the key and I am not sure what she does. I did find a small mark on the back of her neck. AS. Any information is appreciated.

couple things I need to ask first 1.) is she porclin or painted tin ?? 2.) can You undress her ? 3.) when you undress ( if can ) her how do her joints come together ? 4.) are her shoes wooden or porclin painted to look like or painted tin ?? Well the first thing to find out is ( I know duh I'm not making fun of you I'm making fun of me cool ?) 1.) where G-pa's & Gmas family are from O.G. & where her frind was or is from, 2.) If each have any bros or sis's that may be may remember that doll ask lots & lots of questions if g-parens are past, look to see if there are any Black & white pics. any of the girls in either family sitting near or with said doll because of the way she is dressed & painted she looks like she from the dutch countries, But she may have been made in the Austrian regiens, quite possibly the Germanic regiens, & assuming that she is from one of these countries, she looks like somthing a watchmaker or a automaton maker might do in his spare time for his daughter or G-daughter or for a custumers daughter it looks like when you wind her up she quite possibly shifts he baby from arm to shoulder & pats the baby's back & then back again to start the prossess over again you might want to take her to a watchmaker / clock repair shop or a jewler that has one of those litle old german guys that looks like he is one of the O.G. cast from the wizard of OZ & speaks very little english his G-son is his translater

Your doll looks to be Celluloid and rocks baby . She is dressed like a Holland lady so must likely made there although Germany made dolls and other countries in different ethnic clothes. If her clothes are original to her she dates from late 50's -70's by snap . On her mid back maybe a mark also . Her value does not warrent taking her for repair unless you know someone that can do it free. She is precious and the AS on neck I am unsure of maker since there are thousands of doll makers but she would have came with a hang tag to mark country of origin on her . Not sure if your in USA , To export them here they have to be marked by country that made them .I do not see a place for key to wind her . Maybe you can undress her .

Her clothes do not come off. The hole above the bow on her back is where a key would fit to wind her. Her shoes are wood. She appears to be celluloid and is hollow. I am in the U.S. I did not find any other marks on her body. I don't have any one I could ask about her. I appreciate the info. The questions are actually helpful as well. I was thinking she is possibly a replica to look like an older doll.

She is not a replica . I see Key hole now . I thought it was a snap . Dates 1940-60. Celluloid like her was popular during that era . Usually made by Gremany .
