I recently purchased this cabinet at an estate sale. I dont know a lot about antiques except I love item. I am thinking it may be from the art deco era and was told it was a curio cabinet but I was thinking it looks like a bar. Anyone know anything about this piece. I got it cheap so I wont be disappointed in any information.
Definitely says bar to me with that mirrored top shelf. Great find!
The mirrors slide inward to expose additional storage space. The rounded ends are glass tubes and very unique. I got this item home and its a real treasure. The owner would purchase antiques and then write the year, where and price paid on sticker and affix it to the item. This item was marked 1994, Sandwich antiques 335.00.
Great Italian look!
IMHO -- A home bar too. Love it!!May I ask what you paid?
Thanks
I paid 40.00. I wish she had marked the tag with more info, like the year it was made or the style or something; possibly she didnt know. It's just so pretty that I want to know everything about it, I must be patient :-)

I think you nailed it. Mystery solved and thank you so much. I know what my cabinet is called and that should make finding more information much easier.
Antiquerose, thanks for the info, it is much appreciated and thanks for the links.
I got a response from your suggested contact, again I am so grateful for your help. Here is my response:
Hello Laura,
Thank you for the e-mail, as well as reviewing my website and considering me as a possible source to help identify the vintage and manufacturer of your Cocktail Cabinet.
First... It's definitely of English origin and was probably constructed in the 1940's.
The Queen Ann legs, gold striped mirrors and plastic lens coverings utilized were typical for that period.
The cabinet also appears to have lighting... If so, the wiring & bulbs utilized should help with determining the vintage.
Regarding the actual manufacturer, that's difficult to ascertain, as there were quite a few in / around the London area during this time. Are there any labels or stamped letters / numbers on the back or inside ?
FYI... One modification you may wish to consider to enhance the overall look / appearance would be to replace the gold-colored backing of the lower display area with a large mirror. This is not a difficult or expensive task, and the added reflection would really make it pop !
Well, Laua, whether you keep this piece as a Curio Cabinet or Cocktail Cabinet is entirely up to you... However, by modifying slightly and adding some nice bottles & barware for decoration, it could be a great conversation piece and a functioning Bar !
Cheers,
Jim
@roket94 -- Oh What a Super Response from them!! Looks like he gave you some good info and maybe still look around for any marks. As I asked before, does your looks like it lights up? I think it would look amazing!! JIM was super in his response!!!!!!
IMHO.....that is a Keeper!!
No, mine did not come with lights and it does not appear to have any holes are marks on the wood where lights may have been affixed. I did put a light next to it to take a better picture. I am seriously considering putting a light inside. I agree with Jim about the gold color backing. I wanted first identify the item as best possible before I did any modification.
yeah I am sure you could put some vertical tube lighting inside on those sides. It would Sparkle.
I love it -- you lucky person!!
