Hi Aims, what a lovely new profile pic. Handsome boy, he takes after his mum. I've never heard of a bushel basket before. I'm googling it now:) Was the crab delicious? Mmm one of my favorites
    8. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
      :^) Good Morning Everyone,

Elizabethan, yes we catch & cook our own every year.

Attwood, we're Topsy turvy. Your season ends, ours begins.

Nuts, thank you very much for the very kind words.

VF, thank you for the super sweet compliment, I will pass it on to him. I truly appreciate you my wonderful friend. Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs are the best IMHO but than again I grew up eating them, so my opinion may be bias ;^)

Many thanks to everyone who loved

Love it Aims! You know I live on the Eastern Shore but I haven't picked any crabs in years... You've inspired me!! Love the new picture as well. Your son definitely looks like you... And that's a good thing!

Good Morning Toolate, Aww so kind of you, thanks so much. We crab the Wye every year. Love it there, so beautiful and peaceful. The Hubster is looking daily for a waterfront place on the Eastern Shore. We crab the Wye every year. Love it there, so beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for taking time to comment :^)

I look better in a tub like that LOL :-) since I don't eat crab or meat . Thanks for stopping at my post in my tub Aim ! xo
    20. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Mani, you certainly do look better in these baskets than the mean olé looking crabbies. LoL
    21. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 11 years ago
I haven't seen these in umpteen years. If you want to preserve them in a natural way get some boiled linseed oil and brush it on heavy inside and out. NOT RAW LINSEED OIL.
    22. tom61375, 11 years ago
      Oh my & how!! =^°
    23. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Sorry Tom, I tried waiting for the ski fishing trip.

fhrjr2, thanks for the tips but bushel baskets are still readily available in our crab/fishing area. We usually switch out every season, every other at the least.

    28. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
LoL I wish I could Kerry, maybe if I get my hands on some dry ice. Not literally, of course.
    29. kerry10456 kerry10456, 11 years ago
HeHe,,, It's the thought that counts Aim, I'll sane some crawfish/crawldads and have me some fresh water lobster then... :-)
    30. tom61375, 11 years ago
      Oh I'd have done the same. Crabbing beats a ski trip any day. I can't wear my SPEEDO when skiing…brrrrr! =^}
    31. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Hmm Crabs, shrimp (here) and lobster's. Yum!

Omgoodness Tom, I had forgotten all about that speedo and sirens

Went to Waterman's in West OC Sunday but alas, nobody else wanted to pick crabs....So I had some very good crab cakes! Not the best, but pretty good...

Blue Crabs from Maryland are my favorite. I fry the softshells too.
    35. Love.anything.old Love.anything.old, 11 years ago
Love this picture. Reminds me of when we go visiting my sis and bro-in-law in eastern Maryland in August and we go crabbing using a net and bushel baskets. Nothing in the world like freshly caught Maryland blue crabs and my bro-in-law, born and raised in MD, cooks them to perfection using Old Bay, of course. l.a.o.
