Antique postcards represent over 150 years of our National and World history and are great tools for researching the past! Below is a one-of-a-kind photo taken during the early 1900's, showing oil rigs on fire in the boom-town of Newtown, Texas. Between 1918-1920, over 65,0000 settlers camped here after oil was discovered north of Burkburnett, Texas. The lack of safety guidelines during the quick construction made the community vulnerable to fires, which eventually destroyed the entire town.
