Polia Pillin Pottery Post!
Alliteration and a great swoop from a quick stop at the SA.
Yep, didn't have a single idea what it was but knew quality when I saw it. Pulled it up on the the phone and did a yelp. These guys are not cheap!!
(okay it was for me...)
This husband and wife duo set up a LA based pottery in 1948. Apparently the hubby, William, did most of the glazing, shaping, and firing while the wife, Polia, did the painting.
This piece stands about 7 inches tall and is super tough to photo. The colors in person are spectacular.
Fun fact...didn't see the bird until I was taking pictures!
stunning !!!
I was very excited to find it. You would have been been very entertained by my little dance.
Thank you for sharing in that excitement and showing me love!
I understand the yelp and dance, lol.... I've done same this week too, great feeling
Neat story line on the Hubby and Wife.... that's what the economy needs more of today... Those "Mom & Pop" establishments. Love the colors
Your very welcome Amber!! :)
Super kiss Cha Cha!!
blushing !!! ;=)
LOL Eye... what's that?
Besides AR's ready for display... mine needs attention, lol I know....
No no no!! Kerry totAlly wins! This was a random seen the trenches to know to spend two bucks. Not a "hey I know what I'm doing" moment.
So cool , grest story ive never seen anything like it before , your so lucky;-)
Fffff awesome!!
I would have danced too!
Awesome!
Thank you V, Agh, Phil, Sean, Nuts, Kerry, Eye, Surf, Mike, AR, Agram and Torakitty too. Here's hoping for a happy dance for all!
What a great find!!!
Eye, it's all good. I just donated a fancy bike stroller that I could have CL for $75 but figured I had to balance the scale. Also, they process tens of thousands of pieces a day...some slip through the cracks...and there I wait...like a spider!
Agreed! I have completely refined my hunt list. Upgraded. I pass on things that I would have picked up...even a year ago.
Hey, those cracks are tiny compared to ten years ago. They are improving. Plus I haven't seen gold or silver in a dogs age. Most thrifts have an individual jewelry person to evaluate, so ...
Eye, I wonder all the time what I am walking past today!
Hahahahahaha! Are you able to get to Randolph this May? I remember something about a New Years resolution.
I just hope someone else wants to donate another PILLIN I want to find it!!!
People just don't see the P. But, you can clearly see it's not made in kindergarten??
I don't think this piece really shined. It takes really looking at for it to grow, then it's a beacon. If that makes sense.
Worth is what people make it. There are lots of things that people love that I wouldn't pay a dime for!
Yep, Randolph is a ton of work but really fun
icollectglass.... That's the best complement I've heard in a long time, I truly appreciate it.. As scatter brained as I am most of the time, that is great to hear :-)
Well done, lucky you!!!
Thank you Leah and Mary.
I must say that I'm worried this find inhaled all my thrift luck. Found zero today after some effort...ahhhhh!
Ahhhhh! Too many valleys
I haven't been Pillinedsssssssss yet :) LOL :)!!
Dofensmirch! Morning!
Good Morning Amber!!
Great colors. Nice find, Amber!
Lovely, the signature alone is great! Looks like a mama and baby elephant! - well to me anyway!
