This platter I found in the Salvation Army on half price day! It is very heavy, no damage whatsoever, except it needed cleaning. Measures 13 inches across. It is so nice I am glad to find it for $6. Has the Cambridge Imperial symbol in the middle.

at that size I'm pretty sure it would be a punch bowl under-plate. The pattern is Imperial Glass #505 Bellaire, c.1905; very often seen by the AKA of 'Octagon'. Given this as the IG maker's mark it would be a later reissue by Imperial Glass after 1951 when that mark was first used. The only place I've seen this pattern called Daisy & Button is at Replacements and I'm not at all sure where they got that from.

Hi TallCakes, thanks for the reply. I found this same plate on Ebay and they called it Daisy and Button's, said it came out in the 50's or 60's. The emblem of CI is in the middle of course for Cambridge Imperial. To me it is not quite large enough for a punch bowl, but maybe a small one, but you know more about these pieces than I.

I will look into it a bit more.

      Thanks!

could very well be a cake plate too. Is the mark you see a superimposed or intertwined I & G; sometimes the G may like like a C. Never seen a Cambridge Imperial mark; perhaps you could post a pic. Many time eBay sellers do base their titles on "R". It's a nice plate; I have a decanter and cordials set in this pattern myself.

      Hi TallCakes,
I've been busy, but I researched the plate some more. It is called a sandwich plate. I still believe you are more correct. I appreciate your knowledge. I just know it's a very good looking piece of cut glass!
