This is a chinese patterned large bowl 12" across x 4" high very heavy & unusual !!!
Unusual pattern with a cockeral on a fence flowers and scrolls on the inside and scenery with willow patterns and what looks like mount Fuji on the outside with four blue rings dropping to the base ...??
The top rim of this bowl is flat or square across the top & 12mm thick , the base has a glazed centre ring but unglazed around it?? Apart from a pattern next to mt. Fuji that has nothing to do with the scenery, ??there are no marks that I can see...
this may not be from asia as ive never seen anything like it before so could be from anywhere .
Any info on this one will be much appreciated
Thanx all
Huh. Don't think I've ever seen a rooster on a blue and white Asian dish before.
Thanks Catherinescollections , the lack of comments says it all !! , the cockerel is on the chinese calender which is the only place ive seen it to do with oriental things;-)
i think the chances are much greater to be japanese , bull eye,s + trple on the bottom + transferware , this is not old
Thanks again apostata
I didn’t think it was old & even thought it may have been French as they have cockerels on lots of pottery !!
well maybe you could be right they are faked everywhere, from origen i think it is chenghua design - fench - cherryblossom , from origine it is a way to express the dynastic social stratification, namely the pursuing of the kinfolk line and the looking after the young kids ( so a sort metaphoric significance ) and the stuff was court regulated
the doucai chengua,s were extremely expensive from hundreds of thousands dollars even the wanli copies and the 18 ct will do thousands
I can only wish to find something so valuable !! many thanks apostata for your knowledgable comments & your time .. sd
