This exquisite French brooch was made by the company, Bressans, in the eastern French city of Bourg en Bresse. Bressans has been making beautiful enamel jewellery since 1850. The brooch is French 800 silver vermeil, the cloisonné enamel gold parts 18 carat gold. The designs are hand crafted to a unique method.
The colors are wonderful. Two sides are deep royal blue , the middle part red all three with green and red faceted glass stones. The measurements of the brooch are: 4.5 x 1.5 cm.
Two hallmarked one the French silver mark, crab (hallmarks from 10 May 1838) the other probably the maker I cannot decode, I ask you help to find this.
I hope you like it as I do!

Just so pretty!
Fantastic balanced design and wonderful enameling!
I love Bressan enamel, but it is hard to date or attribute to a maker. In any case, it is a beautiful piece!!
I have this pendant... but I think it's more recent than your brooch

As always, a beautiful piece, Agram!
But, just a precision, Bressans was not the name of a company, just the word for telling it come from Bresse; just as Parisian mushrooms are not grown by Parisian & Co ;-)
Newtimes, LeahGoodwin and Manikin thanks for your interest and loving.
