I just love the early Czech designers, dating from the 1920's to 1930's there are not many originals about, he also designed Intaglio pieces of which i will show in another posting.

Very neat!
Thanks for pointing out the difference!
These are beautiful pieces, are these that your showing us reproductions.
Hi, no both the Hoffmann pieces are genuine, the other two are repro but very very good ones from the original moulds, the intaglio Hoffmann is also genuine.
The vaseline bather cost me £ 540.00 GBP and the frosted Hofffman meditation cost me £270.00 the Desna repros cost me about £60.00 GBP each they are both signed Desna on the base, but i am happy although i would prefer the originals.
Thank you Susan.
Hi. I was just so happy to find your link to the Heinrich Hoffmann catalog for 1927. "Blid 38", #17, is an art deco elephant on a base. This is BEAUTIFUL in person, I have one. The elephant is frosted clear glass and the base is shiny black with the "jungle" on the sides painted gold, and he's signed on a foot. I'll send you a picture if you'd like & tell me where. I've looked for anything on this item over the years and never gotten this far. Thanks!
Hi Mary, i am glad this has helped, your piece is very valuable, what size is he? why dont you post a photo for us all to see, i would love to see him.
Hello. I was at a show this past weekened and purchased what looks like the small meditation by Heinrich Hoffmann. It neither has the butterfly mark nor the Desna mark. Do you think it is a reproduction by another maker or is it possible that it is an unmarked Hoffmann piece?
Susan, I have a piece just like this but they say the mint mark ( Is that what it's called re/art glass?) is a butterfly ,mine looks more like a crown.
Can you tell me where this is listed in the catalog you spoke of , or we could make arrangements to email me a picture of the bottom side of yours, or go to my listing ,(there's a picture of the mark )+ reply to the post there. Thanks.JB

Susan, I got it, mine is either 456 or 244. You can see my size description on my post. Did you determine which yours is? Just curious. Is there a page in the Hoffmann catalog that has descriptions of the items? I'll go back + look when I have time. I'm just very pleased to find the origin of my Grandpops Meditating nude. Thanks again.
