    blunderbuss2
    (199 items)

These are the only pics I have of my beauty & they are taken with old predig. cameras. My EX took all our pics or time & hurricanes did. I totally restored it in the late 60's & 12 coats of in-between, hand rubbed lacquer. Overhauled the eng., trans., & drive-train as well. Eng. didn't need boring so kept it std. but had it balanced to where if there was any noise around, I couldn't even tell if the eng was running by vibrations. Had newer MGB's challenge me at lights & would run off & leave them for several blocks. I would ease-off then & when asked what I had "under the hood?", I would tell them std. stock. Of course I knew the gear ration was real low & they would pass me after 2-3 blocks easily! I kept everything original except the distributor gave trouble because MG used ones with aluminium cast around a steel shaft & it just didn't work so I found the an Austin Healey Sprite distributor worked. Alas, I had to ship it or sell it when I moved to Jamaica & the steering wheel was n the wrong side.

    2. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Thanks Sean. I loved that car & been trying to find a replacement.
    3. SEAN68 SEAN68, 10 years ago
Your very welcome Blunderbuss :) I love the car as well :) I don't blame ya for looking for a replacement!!

Very Cool... would love having one also
    5. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Kerry, I have had several times when girls jumped in with me & coo, "I love your car!". If I had one now & a girl jumped in, they would probably say,"I love your car! Will you leave it to me in your will?". Some things never change!

Hay Blunderbuss......That advice on " How to use a Tonneau Cover" really works well....Moon!!!
    7. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Good Moon. Listen to the older & wiser from their experiences. True wisdom, that. Do remember the advice about the distributor. Just the slightest movement between the aluminium housing & the steel shaft will make it run rough. If you ever have the eng. out, the bolts that hold the bellhousing to the eng. screw into aluminium & you need to have heli-coils installed. I drove home once holding the eng. & trans off the road by pulling up on the gear shift! No shit! My email is on my profile if you need any help, so don't hesitate to ask. Lot of little quirks that I know how to handle. Does your's have the 2 prong outlet on the dash for the service light? I don't have the lamp or cord, but have the bakelite plug at the airport if you want it. No use to me!
    8. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
PS. Moon. even the smooth side of the tonneau is not much better. Lets face it. It wasn't designed with that use in mind. Grass is better.

Now that is a sweet ride Blunder ! I would miss it also but if I see one in Pittsville I will call you ASAP :-) xo
    10. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Mani, I'm off to buy a fist-full of Lotto tickets right now! Now one from Pittsville would probably have bits of hay stuck in every corner. I can live with that.

      I'm on my way blunder!...:-)
    12. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
If I could only be so lucky Inky! I better buy a fist-full of Power Ball tickets! May give a ring soon when I not so tired when I get home & in a jovial mood.

Phil, you are one of those people who is to damned nice for your own good! My "EX" took all out pics, which included all my TD pics because she found them with other "people" she didn't want to see. Those lousy pics are the only ones I have. She got all the ones I really wanted. That's ancient history, so don't worry about it. The ones with the top down, smiling faces & maybe the windscreen down are the ones I really miss. I'm sure she probably burned them. Afraid my "7 yr itch" started the 5th year. Just married too early! (like too many). Thanks for the offer. Been told that a doctor has one in his garage in Nevis he never drives, but inquiries get no more leads. Heard rumours that there is one here in SXM but never driven. Like looking for the holy grail or Arc de Covenant! Plastic repro is just not my style at all! Again, thanks for the offer.

Had to love again... good luck on the quest for the grail

Kerry, I'm just lousy with puters & will probably have to get a kid to poste the beautiful job Phil did on these. My pics really didn't do much for me, but Phil's updates brought on involuntary Kegel exercises! LOL
    17. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
And Phil has done his magic again! I really do appreciate you saving those memories and I learned something new with these har infernal machines.
    18. Manikin Manikin, 10 years ago
Have to love again ! Phil has magic in his work ! Love how he brought it back to life . What a great friend he is to CW right Blunder :-) LOL you do Kegal exercises to funny :-)
    19. kerry10456 kerry10456, 10 years ago
I see you found neighbor kiddo to post new pics.... lol.... Phil did great job
    20. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Kerry, I only have 2 brain cells left & they have to alternate, but got them to work in unison and figured it out all by myself! Well after a few ph calls (just joking). Both cells are having to rest right now & I'm beginning to forget how to spell in English. (a common occurrence)
    21. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Phil, you "dun good" and I appreciate it immensely! Now all I have to do is toss out the old pics and replace them with your updates. When I figure out how. LOL! Don't worry, I know how to do that, - I think.

My big sis had the same car but in yellow! It was so much fun driving with her. Wish she still had it. Yours is gorgeous. Love the red!

Susanmc. When I got mine, it was yellow. I totally disassembled it & got rid of all the yellow to bring it back to life in red. A decision I never regretted. To me, candy apple red, British racing green & black look best on these T series cars. MG tried to modernize a bit with the TF by such things as blending the headlamps into the fenders etc. & only 700 were imported into the U.S.. Modernized just didn't catch-on! Bet you & Sis were the "talk" when cruising around! I'm sure they were a guy getter too!

ever since I was a kid ( eons ago), I wanted a 1950 MG. They are a superb true sports car. I read somewhere that you could stand a half dollar on the rim and balance it on the radiator and rev the engine and the coin will not fall off. How's that for balance. Great piece! ....
    31. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Haven't heard that one hotair. Doubt it with factory standards but I balanced my eng. & it may have worked. Never tried it though.
    32. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Wow, Nicefice, you're going back a bit ! I can't get it out of my head, not to constantly look for another TD . The TC & TD were the culmination true classic sports car perfection in those days, & still make people drool today, when they see one. Got me laid many a time ! LOL!! Wish I still had a pix with the top down & side screens off but the ex or hurricanes got those . C'est l'vive ! Thanks for renewing the memories.
    33. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Most of the time Nicefice. Can't even figure out why I would take pix with the top up & side windows in .
    34. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Yeah, looks a lot slicker with the top down & the tonneau cover on.
    35. frisco frisco, 9 years ago
I Had an MG-1100 front wheel drive about this time, I wonder if the engines were the same? Very Nice Ride you Had!
    36. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Frisco, glad you brought that up. I was thinking that it was a 948cc xpag but decided I better ck before saying anything. Turns out that it was 1250cc. I overhauled that eng. & could have sworn it was a 948 ! Going to recheck that. What yr. was your 1100 ? It had frt. wheel drive with c/v joints ?
    37. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
That had me wondering, so I went back to figure it out, Frisco. I had a '62 Austin Healey Sprite before the TD & it had the 948cc. Also, I helped build a 948cc for a racing friend driving a "Bugeyed" Sprite. We ran the issued twin SU carbs. & I am still impressed with them.

I'm going over some of y'all's older posts, since I'm still kinda new here. LOVE THIS CAR! My brother had an MG Midget in race green. Drove it from San Jose, CA to NY, NY and back the summer he graduated from high school. Never once added oil, though, and came home with a cracked engine block! Ended up selling it for parts and scrap at our local auto junk yard. Sad...... Hey, remember the BUG EYE SPRITE??? Had a friend in high school who switched out the engine and put a small Chevy V-8 in it. Man, that thing flew off the ground, literally!!!
    39. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Nevada, I mentioned the Bugeye just above in #41. They were widely used in racing SCCA for awhile.

Yep! Found artery restriction in abdomen & I go under the knife Sept. 1. Don't think I have picked up a KY accent yet, but I am beginning to understand them & figure that's the 1st step to imitation. LOL !
I just want to go home !! Wah, wah !
