BOUGHT THIS AT THE FLEA MARKET A WHILE BACK. IT IS ULTRA MODERN IN DESIGN. IT RUNS FOR SHORT SPELLS BUT I WON'T LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN FOR FEAR OF HEATING IT UP OR...? THE BOTTOM IS MARKED JEFFERSON GOLDEN HOUR ELECTRIC CLOCK.

I have one of these and was able to buy a new motor for it in order to run it correctly and safely in Scotland. Unless it has been wired incorrectly, or wires are touching, I doubt very much if it would overheat. The housing for the motor is all metal. Strictly they should be earthed, but I have several electric clocks which work and they are not earthed. I like the elegant look of these well-made clocks, the 'mystery' aspect as to how they work and they are just so reliable. Spare parts can still be bought easily in the USA.
