Another small vase from Gullaskruf, but this one in opaline or flour glass.
This vase has been attributed to Hugo Gehlin and would be early 1950s, but if you know better please correct me.
This vase was my best bit of op shopping ever I think! Found in a Vinnies at Dubbo, a country town in NSW, for a whole dollar. They thought it was plastic and were surprised when they realised it was glass. It is very fine and light. I didn't know my glass at all well then (relative to now, still learning!) but liked it and thought I recognised the scrap of sticker as Gullaskruf.
It's a sweetie at 140mm (5.5in) tall.
Plain gorgeous! Have you asked the Gullaskruf mob on FB?
I posted it once but got no response.
Apparently Gehlin really seemed to like the opaline glass and these very bulbous but feminine shapes and that was the only direction I was given.
It's another one on my to do list for researching but the Japanese glass has taken over for now.
I'm a very ADD collector I think...the concentration waivers frequently and I move from one thing to another. As long as I don't start collecting really BIG things I might survive.
Having said that we do have a shed full of motorbikes to be restored!
No response?! Well I love it :-). I´ve seen other nice things get no response here before. When I have found them later and "loved them" others then have to0, so I guess they were just out of luck and posted them at a time when other things were more interesting. I love the wase, it probably looks very nice with some bluebells, I send you some in my mind.
stunning!!
Thanks Elisabeth. No bluebells here at the moment so I will have to imagine yours.
The response (or lack of it) was actually from a Facebook group not here....CW nearly always responds in one way or another lol!
Thanks Sean....always so complimentary.
This is lovely Karen. I see you saw this..
