    Hi there!

My grandma has some kitties I was wondering if you could help me identify?

Picture 1 with three sitting cats - two are the same with a different glaze. Then there's a smaller one licking itself.

Then I have a single brown/orange kitty lying down.

Then I have another single sitting white cat.

The last picture is again of three kitties, one putting its paw in the air.

they all appear to be hobbyist ceramic pieces from around the 1970s. A few of the larger pieces have been here at CW previously; the two larger one's were often paired, as is the same size cat in a sitting and lying position.

Oh - thanks! Do you happen to know what a 'hobbist ceramic piece' is? Like - did people go to some ceramics store and paint them? I guess I'm unfamiliar with this concept ....

They are adorables and specially the kitty in the middle in the last picture! ;)

hobby ceramic places had different concepts. Some provided the molds for use where 'hobbyist' could handle the whole process from pouring the slip into the mold for the greenware thru finishing and firing. And then some shops sold the greenware for finishing and then did the firing.
