    (100 items)

When I arrived home today I was just chuffed to have received two vases in the post...one of them, this huge Tango yellow vase was the reason I came to CW. Via invitation of its owner, a most knowledgeable gentleman. It's a stupid story and I didn't cover myself in glory but it has meant I have experienced and developed a keen network of professional glass Masters, who I respect and treat with manners and the courtesy they deserve. The other is a magnificent huge pink gorgeous ruffle vase with iridescent hi-lights and tones of pink, yellow blue and white...just adorable..RESPECT!

You see, you don't get given respect just because you want to have it or demand it or shout abuse from the church rafters to try to obtain it.. You get respect by treating people with respect. It's a flow on thing. Speaking with so many Masters in relation to glass topics has been fascinating and having the chance to "co-operate" in an educational journey has been wonderful. Being given the chance to see great collections and beautiful items has inspired me to continue my own unique area of research. I am truly blessed! Oh and of recent a huge fraud case has fallen in to my lap...It's got everything, James Bond esq. almost...international heist/fraud written all over it....

I have certain ideas that I want to progress. I've spoken publicly about my experience knowing the Weiss family here in Australia, they were family friends of my families and the children went to the same girls grammar school in South Yarra, Melbourne as my sister and I.
My father was in Government and Mr Weiss, well he was a maker of things. Even the house he built near ours looked like a Swiss chalet... Mrs Weiss was a homely woman who gave chocolates when we visited and biscuits and treats from a country far flung from our shores. The family were driven out of Czechoslovakia by the Nazi regime but for the senior members tortured and slain because they refused to give the secrets of their commercial glass manufacture. I knew as a child that the family had come from great success and wealth but only recently found the court documents pertaining to their court case during my research for another Case Law. Reading first hand what they went through has inspired me to see what else I can find out re Weiss glass. If any one wants a copy of the court record you may email me annelanders@gmail.com

I also want to pursue my Australian theories. Currently Adelaide is coming up time and time again with a greater proportional Czech and German glass ratio for several reasons. If I can locate the importer details and maybe locate lists then it might be a chance to contribute to the worldwide research around makers, designs, decors and attributions.

And finally, I am unwell. As I've alluded to. I have commenced an enormous fight by participating in a new drug trial with a combination of Fulvestrant and a newer drug as conventional medicines have ceased working.. As part of the terms of my trial I am unable to discuss publicly my outcomes on this project however I and my wonderful family live this journey in hope....

Concluding today will be my last post on CW as a contributor of my collection. In a way sad as I have four more rooms of porcelain and glass I wanted to share. But with recent events and a rather distasteful element of posters who thrive on misery rather than Mastery I am walking with my feet as they say. I have removed all my photos and posts except for this and my first one.

I've met some outstanding global citizens in here. Gary firstly introduced me and then David L, Alfredo, Fran/Karen, Penny, Marty, Karen, David P, Charlie and Leah, Sean, Kev and Kev, agh, Mike, Ian, Jags and Kerry, , to list just a few. I or my husband have been in contact with you about my situation as you have for the first time many of you contacted me this weekend and I feel that my time might be now better spent with the people who need me and care the most. I will still watch and maybe LOVE because Liking is just plain bad manners....

And that is the note I am leaving you on. Surely you were taught manners. Surely these should be the basis for living a happy and enjoyable life? But also if the manners are to be thrown out the window, stand up for those that matter. Please.

    Anne

Thank you Sean.as I now have your email address I expect updates on your great purchases pls.

Thank you Amber, you are a sweet and very well mannered lady. One day someone posted something and I got a little grumpy. You made me see the softer side of it and I'm glad I'm going to get that back now...

Thanks Mike, have enjoyed your posts too. If you ever need an 1800sDoulton appraisal let me know.

Gary, yes I'm sad too. Sad when I realised it's not just my comments and photos that have gone but the beautiful and genuine expression of love and appreciation that some fabulous posters have written. I read through every one of them today.
It's not just my health , I am annoyed that a passionate lady had her profile removed this week. But we all know the truth and it's about keeping it real. Nare Sayers and deniers can fester away. I'll be on a beach somewhere peacefully oblivious to it all...take care and pls keep in touch...gee and just when I was finally grasping this stupid spell check application ....Anne xxx

You know I will keep in touch too, Anne. I'm sorry to see your posts (and loves) gone from CW, but I understand. Sending emails is a bit more personal and meaningful than posts on a public site :)

David yes of course. Best way to discuss thoughts and ideas without agendas is always the email. Been running around like a cut cat today, back in hospital tomorow as still neutropenic after 7 days...hope the adjustments work. So will be next week David as it's on the other side of town as per my original "new date".

Can't wait for this lot, this will cheer me up I reckon. Got another order from another collector to grab next week , actually three orders from three collectors in total! My postie won't know what hit him...lol...a bit of Tango, Harrach, probably Kralik and who knows what else the postie will be flooded with. Budget release day is always fantastic but the great thing is hubby said the other day just get what you want...yay!..what I've been trying to do is build a collection with several themes. Obviously Tango, but am also starting on applied glass decoration and a little more depth on the on the Spatter and the Opalescent front...hubby bought me an ultra violet light the other day and what funny we've been having....can't wait to show my grandson. Everytime he visits I take him to the various rooms and we talk about a vase or a basket..it's so much fun and I have the most adorable grandchildren in the world just so beautiful as my children...hubby, well he's really getting in to it, moving away from porcelain for both of us for a bit has been a big step...I think once you work out the styles you like you can begin to learn that market and focus on the pieces you want. Also sticking hard and fast to your rules. Don't buy post maker damaged, maker faults in glass seem to be acceptable in rare pieces but in the main go for faultless, crackless and fade free. Stick to your budget guns, don't pay big money in a boom market, buy low and sell up..always.

I still have kept my colour themes, pink and blue in opalescent, spatter, applied and trying to get every tango colour too...once I'm there with Tango, I'll focus on the rare, more expensive buys. Silly to spend thousands and thousands in the first few months of your decision unless you're being feed by a sugar daddy when fluttering those feminine lashes...lol...and that's an interesting point going back to my husband. Getting your partner interested I believe is important. When you're investing in a collection they need to understand what you've got, why you bought it so they too can appreciate the new items as they arrive..we have a game..when the posts comes, first to the door gets to open it..lol..jeez I crap on...! This might be the longest farewell since Dame Nellie Melba!

Ok, more thanks to some beautiful ppl...racer/Karen, I have enjoyed your posts to and the interaction. You always compliment my posts in such a lovely way. I'm still watching from afar but pretty much this post will be my only one I will comment in. Until ppl stop visiting, then throw away the key on another part of my life.

And finally tonight to the lovely Oz Marty. Who I always imagine must be a politician or a high level diplomat.mLiving there in Canberra, overseeing that stately collection. The photos you sent me weeks ago I'm still getting through. Just beautiful. I open them up every few days and admire and look at your posts. Just incredible. You just must be in the diplomatic core surely. Your diplomacy skills are second to only Mr Humphries was it on Yes Minister or was that another well known British comedy..anyway, we will keep in contact. I'm sure when Abbott releases more tax breaks my budget will free up to try and travel through some of your Tango..lol..

      Goodnight...take care

It appears Austrohungaro that it was my penultimate thread..lol..just wanted to show those gorgeous little flori forms...

I'm sad to leave my listings too. I've made some great friendships in here that hopefully should remain for a while..

I have noted with interest your handle. Are you from the region? My husbands family are. It's a shame we can't message as otherwise I would mention his family name.

And thank you for the kind words..Anne xx
    12. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 10 years ago
They're great Anne! These flowers make a great farewel gift! :)

Austrohungaro? haha, no it doesn't mean I come from the region. On one side is an hommage to a Spanish film director, Carlos García Berlanga, which used to make mostly comedies, and the word Austohungaro always appears once in each one of his films. The funny thing about it is that it's a rare word. You don't say "austrohungaro" unless you talk about a specific place in a specific time... I guess I'm weird that way! :)

On the other side, is a hommage to the Secession time. It's no secret I love Austrian design and art from around 1900, but after visiting Budapest four years ago I simply loved their own Szecesszió style, which is so absolutely different to the Viennese one, even if both were capitals under the same Emperor. So that's where my handle comes from :)

      Un fuerte abrazo, Anne

Don't be gobsmacked...I have you on my fb so just message me there if you need me. I don't use it much.

Yes the whole thing few weeks ago has left many ppl fractured. Ppl I thought who might stand tall and do the honorable thing like sort the feud out. But since then its turned really ugly and I choose not to be a part of it...I though have the deepest respect for posters like you. I read your posts religiously..lol..considering its mainly churches that was really funny if I say so myself.

So keep posting, you greatly enlighten a lot of fans of yours.

AnneLanders, I've been following along and have heard you mention your fight with Health....My your journey along this road be smooth and positive outcome. To You and Yours...I wish you all good times ahead and spending time with Loved Ones has it's greatest reward. I understand why this will be your last post and Sorry to see it as your final posting.....I, as many others have come to enjoy and even had a few chuckles with your friendship. Maybe in a few months, you'll be back to posting again....hope so. But for now....Know that I for one will miss your company and You and Yours are in my prayers and will be thinking about you.

    23. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 10 years ago
Thank you Kerry, that is very touching,. I'm sure that in our community there are many who have battles like mine or which I too have the greatest respect.
Your works have truly touched me. I just read these out to my husband. He knows who you are as he has admired your collection from afar!
I've been truly blessed with the friendships I've made in here in such a short time. Testament by the messages like yours that I've received and emails. Ppl like you restore my faith in human kind as there are some horrid ppl in the world. But your words are gentle, kind and caring and I thank you.
I've been plodding along on the trial. A few hiccups along the way but I feel quite good. Loads of tablets to take. I rattle when I walk!
Kerry good ppl like you will always get good as I like to say. In life I truly believe you reap what you sow.
I miss posting very much but could never go back to what I was doing. It's just not the same for me. The fighting makes me feel sick. All I was trying to do was sort it out, now on both sides of the coin I seen as the one who was wrong in what I tried to do. And as a consequence I've lost some friendships that I cherished. In such a small time this place became great solace for me.
But you on the other hand really do have such an amazing attitude and an in erodible collection that I'm sure you are just as proud of and so you should be. I'm still here, I do post loves and read as many posts as I can. If you ever want to write my email is annelanders@gmail.com

      Take care Anne xx

    25. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 10 years ago
Valentiono97 I don't think I could have put it any better myself. And I'm never short of words! Thank you, you are very kind to have so eloquently detailed both the question and an attempt at the solution. I know what you mean though about the desire to post and learn. That's what I thought was so fantastic in here. Thank you. You have a good heart.. :)
    26. Moonstonelover21 Moonstonelover21, 10 years ago
Anne, I have a desire to post and learn. As all my vases are a learning curve. As I know I am one of many who are learning as we go. And I agree that friends should encourage friends by loving and no liking an item. Each post is a personal thing. No matter if one buys one or 10 pieces and posts them. It's the fun of the hunt and capture. Liking days. It's an OK piece not a good one. I, don't understand the conflict on CW, by merely going against the grain of old and new knowledge. You are ostracized on your own posts. I believe for one if there is any derogatory comment that has to be made should always be tactfully done by email. Not on the posters posting. And there are quite a few posts that the poster had a question on a piece and the poster never went back and changed it. To the correct identity of the piece. So in essence, there is misinformation out there by simply not fixing your own post. I do apologize for the heated debate on the welz. I tried to be polite and neutral. I am happy you are back in a fashion.
      Sincerely,
      Lee
    27. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 10 years ago
Lee; thank you for your post. Can I request please that discussion around specifics from the thread you speak of be posted in that thread. Thank you.

99 per cent of my post in here is about me saying goodbye to posting new items, my vases arriving, my desire to research, my health and in a way a slight explanation to the lovely ppl who took the time out to post such lovely assistance in that research and a comment as to the unfortunate need to delete my private albeit small collection from CW. I was very concerned that I was upsetting the really lovely ppl who had helped me learn about my glass. I was also though getting concerned that this site was not what I thought it was when ppl find the need to attack each other over a bit of glass, a theme that I had noticed across a variety of threads, not just yours. I think I also withdrew in public any consideration to my comments in that thread as a variety of information subsequently was given to me around many subjects, dynamics and agendas that I felt my comments were not overly relevant to the real topic at hand. Thanks for raising it but I'm not revisiting something I've already withdrawn my participation in. And I think you will see that initially I just wanted the silly fighting to stop and show some appreciation for your lovely item.

For those who are interested I've tried to keep my comments pretty general. And in fact as the days and weeks roll on I find my anger at that aspect of me leaving has more so turned in to appreciation of the lovely readers in here who have as I mentioned, so graciously written. I never said I was leaving, so nothing's changed, I just said I won't be opening new threads to discuss my old or new items. I've posted three threads and I think that's plenty to be getting on with. I now prefer my family and friends who come to visit me in person to appreciate my old and new items up close and personal. We have lots of fun discussing attribution, my grandson calls everything Welz. But only because it's easy to say .

My biggest concern now is which vases will I take in to a Pallative Care. Hopefully that part of my journey is a far way away but I got to meet the team last Wednesday night and warned them, my room will be filled with many, many vases....And again as the days and week roll on I'm finding I miss less and less the post an item facility in here. But am thoroughly enjoying the Show and Tell of other posters. In fact, that is the winner here for me. I can spend my time reading many more posts by many more lovely posters rather than keeping up on my posts. Although I'll probably drive you crazy with all my LOVEs....

I'm really glad you agree Lee about the LOVE tick. To do anything less seems like a real backhander. You get those on public forums who like to raise attention to themselves, so they do it to be controversial...but you know what, that's really their issue too, their right to look like a right rude goose..lol..

My thread has grown in to a great opportunity for me to say farewell gradually as my health deteriorates in a way that I want to. Maybe you got confused with me saying farewell as voluntarily leaving. I assure you, it's not. So far everyone has managed to be delightful in responding and I've received some beautiful letters from ppl I had no idea were enjoying my posts. And that's the beautiful thing I've taken away from here. Some lovely new friends. It's been terrific to find genuine kind hearted ppl who know how to have friendships and treat ppl with respect.

Lee, as my family, my children and grandchildren read these posts, I like to think they can learn how ppl should engage with each other. And let me share something very personal with you. Everytime my grandson visits we play a game. Spot what new vase Granma has and what colour is it. It was actually this game that lead me to the idea of recording my collection for my family to know what they had when I'm not here in CW. That is the reason I decided to start collating everything in the one place and with the blessing of my husband. You see I hadn't even really started on my Doulton collections hen I got distracted by glass. Items like your beautiful green and blue vase in your profile shot, Leah's gorgeous Kralik applied glass, jags gorgeous gorgeous spatter vases, Alfredos amazing everything...lol..OZ Martys beautiful items and in Australia,Frans beautiful plinths, Pennys fantastic Tangos, Gary's gorgeous dining room table, Kevs postcards, Seans love affair with all things from Sweden in 50s 60s 70s glass, the list goes on. We've got over 100 pairs of Doulton Slater vases now, many that we shipped over when we moved here. We know it's actually a very important history of John Slaters designs and concepts. But because I got so in to the whole glass thing I got distracted..lol..so much cheaper than my Doulton vases and really pretty and exciting. But when I felt the need to delete it all I lost the vehicle for them to view so easily. Fortunately we painstakingly copied them all before removing but I've lost all those beautiful ppls comments. And that's the one thing I'm truly sad about in my whole experience of the last 4 months...seeing all the beautiful comments...

Lee, I appreciate you must have been quite shocked about the tone your thread took. As a CW poster however I decided to comment about my distaste of the infighting in here in general over a long period of time, culminating that week in your thread and subsequently seems to continue on and on....so rest assured, it wasn't just your thread I was referring to, it was the general ongoing and continual bad words and public airing of dirty laundry that really should be dealt with in another place. In all honesty I would also discourage anyone to send derogatory comments, even tactfully by email. Having been on the receipt of emails of this nature, I discourage this approach. Although fortunately for me,my emails are now picked up by my family, so I don't need to be troubled by this aspect.

Lee I genuinely welcome any further comment in here to be about the wider topic of my posting. I appreciate you taking the time to explain how you feel. In general most posters in here are talking about their dislike of the whole experience too.

Thanks again for taking the time out to visit.

      Anne,

You have a beautiful heart and soul. I truly appreciate your candid thoughts.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful vases at one time. I know we all enjoyed the wonderful colours and shapes. I too, was tired of the tirade that was going on. And I believe that glass should be loved and admired and loved ....not liked. But to each his or her own.

I enjoyed that you had a nice vision of what should have taken place....but that was in the past. Now, I believe the forum is quieter and calmer.

I love floriforms and enjoy learning everyday.....I especially loved to see your collections as it was growing too!

      sincerely,

Yes, very similar; yours seems to have ribbing around the body, mine is smooth as a baby's bum. Thank you for your input and by the way, my wife and I spent 3 months in Florida recently, collecting unusual jewelry that I know is your other passion. Will be uploading photos in the coming weeks.
