The Minnesota Valley Canning Company was founded in 1903 in Le Sueur, Minnesota. The brand "Green Giant Great Big Tender Peas" was first used in 1925. The figure of a giant was introduced in 1928. The company was renamed to the Green Giant Company in 1950.
This pocket watch appears to be made in Germany, circa 1983. The movement is by the UMF factory. There is an image of Green Giant's pal, Little Sprout, on the dial and it comes with a leather bow attachment in the shape of a green leaf. I am therefore assuming that this timepiece is a promotion watch for the Green Giant Company.

I actually have this exact pocketwatch. I won it when I was 11 years old. It was a second prize in a contest where kids had to make a birthday card for the Jolly Green Giant (it was a milestone company anniversary). I think there were 475 of these made (25 first prizes, 475 second prizes). Somewhere I have the print ad with the contest details.
