Ashtray, Isao Hosoe (1971, Kartell)

This is an iconic ashtray, model 4636 of Kartell. It was designed by the Japanese Isao Hosoe (born in Tokyo in 1942, although since 1967 he’s spent most of his life working and living in Italy).

There are two sizes for this model: this one, the big one, with a diameter of 21 cm., and the smaller one (model 4632) with a diametrer of only 12,5 cm. It’s made in melamine and as far as I know, it came in four colours: white, red, black and orange. It was into production from 1972 to at least 1987.

As you can see we've got one in red and one in black but, oh, how would i love to get a small orange one!!!
