My Great Uncle created this piece many years ago and it still hangs in my mothers home.

Ah, Uncle Frank! He was such a wonderful man with a very kind soul. He was a joy to be around. When I was very young, he taught me to paint with cut potatoes and Popsicle sticks :) I loved going to his home he shared with my Aunt Janet. Aside from the artwork they did together, they took care of my Great Grandmother until she passed at the age of 98.

My Uncle was a "gunner" in WWII and while flying in the plane, took many photographs. I believe that his brother is the keeper of most of those. One particular photo I remember was of his best friends plane that was actually shot down, I also remember him telling me that he did not send that photo to his friends family, with much pain in his kind heart.

After the war, he applied for work as a commercial artist where my great aunt was the secretary. Love at first sight, they were soon married. He designed the Kamchatka Vodka billboards you would see along the freeways. Years later he went on his own to design many beautiful pieces of art and I can't wait to share the pieces I have.

He may have not reached "fame" in the world of artists, but without doubt, he was famous to me!

At 1st glance, I didn't think much about it but then something brought my attention back & I liked it. Then you tell us it's sideways! I like it both ways! Welcome to CW aka Cyber Asylum. Waiting to see what you promised.

blunderbuss2, you say aka cyber asylum right? Well then, can you answer me this...I look at the photo today that I took and now it's not sideways???!!! LOL. If my computer keeps acting up, I am going to end up in an asylum! Today I can't upload anything again!?

So is the photo sideways or not? Forget it...Is there a doctor in the house??? :)

Welcome again to cyber asylum & the wonderful world of f---ing technology. You are a good candidate for our world. Remember: To err is human. To really screw-up takes a computer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of CW... where everybody has some quirky things and treasures to share. I believe this to be in the treasure category. Very neat.....BTW I'm not quite right, so people tell me, so please bare with me, need to enroll in the basket weaving classes, but Roy and Blunder got the last two openings :-)
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of art.
    13. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Kerry, we have to give and evaluate your ink blot test before admitting anybody to the basket weaving class. We don't want to put you in an advanced class when you might belong in a special student class. I think we have a "runaway posting"!
Sorry shareurpas. It's all Roy's fault! I have developed "passing the blame" to a true art form.

Lucas....that's alright, test scores said everything "Special" . But before this posting gets to far along.... I just wanted to say again, how unique thiscollection of shards of glass is. I'm really impressed on the structure and balance of the colors to form this Jester. I attempted to do a couple things like this, but never had one turn out so nice.

Yeah Kerry, he had talent. Had a friend who did leaded stain-glass and really would have like to have tried my hand at it. I appreciate talent.

    19. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 10 years ago
Look in a mirror. If you see white showing all the way around your pupils, it's a good sign that you belong on Cyber Asylum.
    20. Manikin Manikin, 10 years ago
Darn Blunder and me not seeing good enough to see my eyes in a mirror :-( I belong there I am sure but I do hate weaving so maybe I could sweep the floors and hold the white coats closed in back for everyone else.

Thank you Manikin :) What's really crazy is all the "new-to-me" things I am seeing since being on this site. I can feel a change coming on :) I also love seeing the familiar as well. I'm also enjoying the comments and all the camaraderie. What a great place to be :)
