We picked this up in Brimfield , MA (a 4 hour drive away)a couple of years ago. Oddly enough, we got it from a dealer that lives about 15 minutes from my house! This is a Wind Intensity Meter made for the US Navy by Friez, of Baltimore, MD in 1936. I imagine it mounted on a ship. It's a direct drive from the cups to the meter, so maybe it mounted on a flight deck, or somewhere else not too far from where it was read. I really like military items, and though the gauge no longer works, it looks great in out garden, turning in the wind! I posted a pic of the whole garden, the meter is right of center. I love the outdoors in the summertime!!
Thanks, icollect. We spend a lot of time outside, between the flower gardens and the veggies.
Very charming little oasis you have there! We have had house construction for three straight years...don't ask...so all of my gardening has gone away. Did get a bunch of bulbs and bushes planted last fall but the horrible winter killed most. Heavy sigh. You may feel free at anytime to come over to help me with that green thumb!
Sorry, Amber, the green thumb belongs to the better half. I mow and trim, and carry stuff. I also know what the names of some of the plants are! And as for construction, we started an addition when my son graduated from high school (he's 37), and there are STILL things that need to be done. Mostly trim and the like. Its a never ending process. Thanks for the complements!!
Thanks, icollect, and thanks for all the loves!

You're son graduated high school at age 37? Was he on "Hollywood Hill'Billies? Just kidding with you. I know what you meant. Just couldn't pass it up. I do have a reputation to maintained, you know.
Yeah, blunderbuss, we FINALLY got him through. Had to bribe the principal!!! :-)
Glad to know you have a good sense of humour. Something we don't seem to lack on CW.
